John Paulsen, President and Producer
Producer/multi-instrumentalist
John started life as drummer for The Proletariats / The Directions, the
seminal Central California punk band, and as a college and high-school
percussion teacher. After moving to the Bay Area in the 90s, John wrote
songs, sang and played guitar in bunches of post-punk/indie projects
and started spending more time in studios (home and otherwise) as a producer
and commercial composer. He continues to prosecute his contrary passions
for pop music and aberrant sounds.
As a producer for Talking House, John has produced tracks for many of the very sweetest people in the SF Bay Area including The Matches, Scissors For Lefty, Mud, The Actual, Push To Talk, Panda, Maldroid, and Built For The Sea, among others.
Right now: John's producing more stuff with The Matches for their next Epitaph Records release, finishing up a CD with Kerry Gulbranson, and producing a new album with elephone.
