Paul Ruxton, Creative Director and Producer
Talking
House Creative Director and Producer Paul Ruxton began
his career as keyboardist for the seminal Fresno punk/new-wave band The
Directions, which later morphed into Procession,
one of the most popular central California bands of all time. After years
of reigning in the Central Valley, Procession moved to the Bay Area,
changed its name to Monky House, and quickly became
a club favorite in San Francisco. When Monky House disbanded in the early
90s, Paul retreated to the studio alone, and emerged with the underground
release Relaxin' with Picklehead, a DIY, sample-heavy affair
which pre-dated the work of sonic-collage artists such as DJ
Shadow by almost half a decade.
Equally talented in the visual realm, Ruxton spent the 90s and early 00s dividing his time between music and design work: leading and producing a soul-jazz ensemble, playing and touring in rock and funk bands, composing and producing for multiple TV and film projects, designing dozens of entertainment-related websites, and devising CD/multimedia packages and concert merchandise for various musical artists.
As a producer, arranger, session player and designer for Talking House, Ruxton has worked with many of the top artists in the SF Bay Area, including Mud, The Matches, Austin Willacy, The Trophy Fire, Panda, Scissors For Lefty, Kerry Gulbranson, Push To Talk, Cold Hot Crash, Poor Bailey, Bray, Built For The Sea, Joan Jeanrenaud, Donald Bailey, elephone, and The Hundred Days.
Currently in charge of creatively guiding Talking House through the 21st century entertainment/multimedia galaxy, Ruxton's visual and sonic expertise can be experienced in virtually all of our projects.
